TopShop hosts the hommes for London Fashion Week.

And now, a word from our British fashion intern, Chris Brown...

"Studying fashion in London has always opened my eyes to new British talent and design, especially in the ever-changing world of the menswear market.

When Topman (TopShop's guy division) and Fashion East (London's big forum for young designers) announced the new lineup for February's menswear show (just called MAN, because things are easier in England), it suddenly became clear that menswear had taken a new direction, as displayed in the seams of these new designers:

HANS CHRISTIAN MADSEN
Referencing 1950s Youth Culture (think Marlon Brando in his classic film, The Wild One), Madsen creates military sportswear with unfinished edges and a strong, sharp silhouette (you know what that means - skinny pants). Most London designers come from Central St. Martins, but Madsen completed his MA in Fashion Menswear at the prestigious Royal College of Art.

JAMES LONG
This 26-year-old from Northampton, England amazed Topman's panel of judges with his modern approach to battle armour (a trend that Galliano also tackled last year). Long likes his materials rough: sheepskin, leather, plastic, and netting are going to crunch down the runway next month, and we bet Topman's usual lineup of ultra-skinny male models will have to shift for his unique and rather husky vision.

KESH
London Fashion Week wouldn't be complete without a former club kid throwing down on a runway (McQueen, Gareth Pugh, and Henry Holland, you guys are guilty...). Kesh falls in line with those boys, serving as half of the DJ duo "The Coconut Twins." But although she's in with the London music crowd, Kesh has been a designer for most of her life. "I had always been designing since a young age, and [I made] my first pair of jeans when I was 12," she says. "They were stonewash bootcuts which I turned into skinny [jeans] and stitched KESH (badly) down the leg." This season, expect a little more from the UK designer..."
